The Toothless Puppy A Tale of Differences edition by Ashley Almon Karen Almon Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Bleeping Motherhood received a complimentary copy of the book, "The Toothless Puppy", in exchange for an honest review.
This story of a golden retriever takes us on her journey of trying to find her missing tooth. She explores various feelingsas she feels different because of her long lost tooth.
She quickly discovers that being different isn’t that bad afterall. It’s OK to be different. Isn’t that a life lesson that we should all learn? Especially for our kids? I think this book is a great way to explore a topic such as this to children. It’s not something that comes up often in every day situations, and I was very pleased to read this with my two children, (3 and 5).
I was a little confused on how this book started out like it was missing a page or two at the beginning of the story, but it could be the formatting by . I liked this book on how it gets children to think about how some of us are different from others, this is especially helpful for children if they a physical disability, it helps them understand that even if you are different from others we all have something that makes us special, that being different is not so bad even to the people who loves us. I love how this book used cute animals pictures explaining what is different about them by using different animals species that have a uniqueness that is out-of-the-ordinary to other species.
An adorable story about embracing your differences. The length of this book was perfect for my toddler’s bedtime story. It sends a great message all the while following some adorable puppies. Campbell realizes she is missing a tooth. Hudson tries to convince Campbell that it is okay to be different. She then goes and finds another friend, Annabelle, who tries to relate to her by showing how she is missing a shoe. The story goes on and we are introduced to more of her friends who each have a similar message to share. I hope that as my daughter gets older, she will be able to understand that it is okay to be different. I can see us reading this book many times.
Cover

Very nicely done. Artwork is bright and appealing. Text treatment is spot-on. Font choices go together very well, and the title is large and bold. Basically everything you want in a good children's book cover. Bravo.

Illustrations

The toothless pup cracked me up. His teeth are very human-looking, so he appears to have a set of dentures stuck in his mouth. I assume that this was intentional to draw attention to his missing tooth--and it works well.

All of the artwork is very professional, bright, and appealing. Page layout is also well-designed for easy reading.

Story

Very sweet little story about differences. It's well-written with a nice flow. This is a great one for a young child who feels self-conscious about their appearance. It teaches in a fun way that everyone's a little different.
this book is perfect for parents to read to their child because it shows how different everyone is from one and another one. All of the puppies friends show him just how different he is from them and they used some quotes that most of us always heard most of the time and I found two that I truly do like.... Quote 1 " You are who you are and that's the truth! You are who you are and you don't need proof". this quote is so important because we all think that we need to be just the same as everyone else but we are all different for a reason an we are also different too with this being said when it comes towards our children we want them to be different and to find their own path in this life. And know Quote 2 " You are who you are and some things you cant change. You are the one of a kind and we love you just the same!" and why is this quote so important for we love our children just the way that they are and we do not change our children to be just like us, we want our children to find their own path in life and hope that they take their own path and not to follow our paths
Wonderful story for kids and adults of all ages! It is such perfect timing that a book like this has come into the world as it highlights the great things about being unique and different and that "being different is the one thing that we all have in common." The illustrations are beautiful as well!
